Stoke ‘agree fee for Shaqiri’
Xherdan Shaqiri has struggled to make an impact at Inter
Stoke City have agreed a £12m deal to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Inter Milan, according to Sky Italia sources.
Mark Hughes’ side attempted to sign the attacking midfielder from Bayern Munich in January but the Switzerland international opted to join Inter on a four-and-a-half year deal understood to be worth £16m.
However, he made just eight league starts during the second half of the season, scoring just once in Serie A, and the Italian club are now prepared to move him on.
Shaqiri began his career with Basel before joining Bayern in 2012, where he two Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League.
He scored 11 league goals in 26 starts for Bayern but after a good World Cup in Brazil in 2014, struggled to establish himself in the first team at the Allianz Arena.
