Final day of evidence for prosecutors in Richmond Hill explosion trial

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WISH) – Jurors in the Richmond Hill explosion trial will hear Thursday from the final witness for the prosecution, the lead detective in the case.

It’ll be the last day of testimony in the trial for Mark Leonard. He’s the first to stand trial in connection to the blast. He’s facing 53 criminal counts, including arson, murder and fraud.

Prosecutors say he plotted to fill his ex-girlfriend’s home with gas, then spark an explosion to collect insurance money.

The defense has said they’ll take a half a day to present their case.

Closing arguments are likely to be Monday.
