Kuwait Detains Several People on Suspicion of Supplying Weapons to ISIS

Authorities in Kuwait have arrested several people who allegedly transferred funding and weaponry to members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) militant group, the country’s Interior Ministry said Thursday.

Kuwait’s state news agency KUNA quoted government sources as saying that the detainees played roles ranging from the transfer of militants and money overseas to providing weapons — including rocket launchers — to ISIS fighters, Reuters reported.

Two Australians, a Lebanese, an Egyptian and five Syrians were reportedly among those arrested, as was a Kuwaiti national.

ISIS, which most recently claimed responsibility for last Friday’s terror attacks in Paris, conducted a suicide bombing at a mosque in Kuwait in June that killed 27 people.
